Tingting Li: Through the Looking Glass

20th - 29th March

Project Gallery, QCA

Tingting Li is from a new generation of Chinese artist, who is studying in Australia. Through the looking glass is based on this dual zone between China as her home and Australia as her current abode. Tingting’s research focuses on cultural dislocation and how it impacts on a sense of the fixity and disrupts identity.

She employs Images from traditional Chinese art history, including landscapes, figures, and animals to try and understand her feelings of mixed cultural identity and displacement. The contrasts between Chinese and Australian culture inspire her interest in painting and form the centre of her research.
