The Tokyo Biennale 2027 Social Dive Open Call invites artists, curators, researchers, collectives and practitioners from Japan and around the world to propose projects responding to the theme “From ‘Me’ to ‘Us’.”
Proposals should engage directly with Tokyo through research, residency-based production and collaboration with local communities. Projects may take the form of exhibitions, performances, workshops, participatory projects, video works, tours, research or curatorial projects.
Applicants are encouraged to explore how individual experiences, memories and perspectives can open into dialogue, collaboration, empathy and connections with people, places and communities across Tokyo.
Eligibility: Open internationally to artists, curators, researchers, collectives and related practitioners aged 18 and over.
Application deadline: Wednesday 30 September 2026, 11:59pm JST
Support includes:
- Round-trip travel expenses up to ¥300,000
- Accommodation in Tokyo
- Venue coordination
- Project development support up to ¥200,000
- ¥100,000 honorarium
- Interpretation and translation support
- Invitation letter
