Applications are now open for the 2026 Waverley Art Prize, a long-running painting and drawing award supporting artists from emerging to professional levels.
Established in 1986, the prize has become a significant platform for contemporary painters and draftspersons, offering both financial support and the opportunity for works to enter the Waverley Council Collection.
The prize features four award categories, recognising a range of artistic practices and perspectives across the field:
Open Prize: $15,000 (acquisitive)
Mayor’s Prize: $2,000 (acquisitive)
Local Prize: $1,500 (non-acquisitive)
People’s Choice Prize: $500 (non-acquisitive)
Funds raised through the prize support Waverley Woollahra Art School, sustaining its role as one of the longest-running artist-run initiatives in the region.
Artists working in painting and drawing are encouraged to apply and be part of this established and respected award.
