Join Quandamooka artists Sonja and Elisa Jane Carmichael in a weaving workshop at Pine Rivers Art Gallery.
Weaving is central to the artists’ connection to Country, reflecting their family’s spiritual connection with the land and seas of Minjerribah (North Stradbroke Island).
The Carmichael women gather and weave ungaire (freshwater swamp reed) and ghost nets washed up on the shores of Minjerribah.
Hear about their unique practice, the ways in which they have regenerated Quandmooka weaving practices, and how working collaboratively strengthens their connection to Country and to each other.
