Deadline:

WHEN : 29th Aug – September 2nd
WHERE : Metro Arts

Wigwam for a Goose’s Bridle is an exhibition of new work by Judy-Ann Moule, which examines through gesture, conflicting experience and how we relate to others.

Upturned objects form a circle like tents around a campfire. Balancing precariously these uncanny but familiar domestic materials and playthings remind viewers of ‘something long known to us, once very familiar’; yet discomforting and secretive (Freud 1919:2). These works are mute, yet provocative material metaphors.

Wigwam for a Goose’s Bridle’ is a familial phrase once popular in Australia for ‘none of your business’.

Judy-Ann Moule is a Brisbane-based visual artist. She recently completed a Master of Arts (Research) at Queensland University of Technology. Her practice explores phenomenological experience and memory of trauma through object-based artwork. She has recently shown at West Wall Gallery (Iceland) as a recipient of The Birgir Andresson residency, QUT Art Museum, The Block Gallery Brisbane, Sunshine Coast University Gallery and H-Block Gallery as well as artist-run initiatives Level, inbetweenspaces and Internationale Textilkunst Graz (Austria).
