His work has been exhibited to increasing national acclaim in major public institutions and leading commercial galleries. Collections such as the National Gallery of Victoria, Art Gallery of SA, Museum of Contemporary Art, Artbank, Samstag Collection and various university collections now hold his work. Nicholas graduated from the University of Sydney in 1999 with a swag of awards under his belt. He was chosen for the Samstag International Arts Scholarship and was selected for the Hatched National Graduate Exhibition in 1999, he won the Tertiary Art Prize from the University of South Australia in 1998, the National Universities Object Award and the Geoff Lloyd Memorial Prize in 1997. He went on to earn the University Postgraduate Award & CHSS Supplementary Award from the University of Sydney in 2003.
