Sharna Barker: nothing, everything

Deadline:

Sure Studio

nothing, everything is an exploration of paper and clay to consider ideas of boundaries and relations, negotiating surface, substance, presence, and absence. In contouring form through the body, Sharna explores ideas of proprioception — the felt sense of the body and spatial relation through movement —questioning the location and limits of the body’s borders and representation.

By using the malleability of paper and clay as a soft, organic, and almost skin like materiality, the works attempt to find markers for bodily awareness that makes permeable the boundaries of the body and notions of subjectivity. In an ongoing series of acts, of physical and psychic exchanges, Sharna aims to negotiate reciprocity, multiplicity, and difference, observing moments of intimacy. In effect, there is a consideration to ideas of the personal not as closed and bounded notion, rather that the personal is intertwined with social relations experienced as moments, fragments, and remnants.

Opening event | Friday 18th March, 5.30-7.30pm
Exhibition continues Saturday 19th March 10-3pm.
