Julie Gilroy: Curating an Image

Deadline:

10 May
-
May 17
Revival Art and Design

Arranging fragments into desirable compositions to steer and guide the observer. Moulding our image to appear effortlessly beautiful, happier, sleeker, camouflaging the chaos. But we must embrace the un-curated fragments, the messy backgrounds which make us unique and interesting. When we lay ourselves bare we find strength and beauty.

Navigating the labyrinth of content and imagery, do we choose to echo and mould ourselves on the best curations? Are we avoiding our true selves or evolving and enhancing what we can become?

Are we staying true to ourselves or simply curating an image?

Julie Gilroy is an abstract artist, who is driven by a bold love of colour and form, exploring both textile and coloured pencil mediums.

Her abstract work centres around the exploration of life’s paths, experiences and support structures. Colourful, graphic shapes and spaces symbolise the forces, layers and complexity of our lives.
