Mini woven artworks with Emily McGuire

Deadline:

Deadline: September 28

Join local textile artist Emily McGuire in this drop-in workshop. Participants will create a woven artwork using second-hand textiles and fabric offcuts.

Select your favourite artwork from works in our collection, then create a weaving that responds to the shapes, colours, and features of the work.

This program is suitable for all ages, but little children will require assistance from a parent or carer. Please book for all participants.

Emily McGuire is an award-winning Maltese-Australian artist based in City of Moreton Bay. She produces installations, soft sculptures and woven forms that problematise assumptions regarding feminine identity and cultural capital.

Emily uses materials that are familiar to the body such as textiles, rope, thread and discarded clothing to invite audiences to connect with challenging ideas.
