Returning for its second year, Handmade in Japan with OKAERI invites you to experience the elegance, beauty, and enduring traditions of Japanese craftsmanship. Hosted at Vacant Assembly throughout July, this thoughtfully curated showcase celebrates functional art from local Japanese artists and artisan makers across Japan.
Discover handcrafted ceramics, paper lanterns, natural fragrances, and finely made homewares—each object telling a quiet story of heritage, artistry, and cultural care. Visitors are welcome to enjoy tea and matcha while engaging with the makers’ stories and the philosophy behind their work.
This project fosters deep connections between maker and object, offering a moment to slow down and appreciate sustainable, meaningful design.
