The Lock-Up is seeking a Gallery & Curatorial Assistant to support the day-to-day operations of the gallery and assist with the delivery of exhibitions, programs, and artist residencies.

Housed in Newcastle’s original 1861 lock-up on Awabakal and Worimi Country, The Lock-Up is a contemporary arts organisation supporting multidisciplinary, experimental, and artist-led practice. The role works closely with the Curator and Director, engaging with national, international, and regional contemporary artists.

This position is suited to an early-career arts professional with experience in galleries, museums, or customer-facing cultural environments, and an interest in contemporary art, community-focused practice, and working at the intersection of heritage and living culture.
