Metro Arts: Visual Artists in Residence 2026 — Open Call

April 13

Metro Arts invites applications for its 2026 Visual Artists in Residence Program, offering artists dedicated time and space to develop their practice within the MAVA Warehouse.

Designed as a space for experimentation and exchange, the residency supports artists through studio access, curatorial guidance, and opportunities for dialogue with peers and the wider arts community. The program encourages process-driven practice, with studio visits, open days, crits, and community gatherings forming key components of the experience.

Residencies range from 6 to 12 months, with no expectation of a finished outcome. However, artists may have the opportunity to develop future exhibitions for Metro Arts’ 2027 program based on work created during the residency.

The program is open to both emerging and mid-career contemporary artists who are ambitious, curious, and engaged in rethinking and reinterpreting form.

Four residencies are available:

  • 2 x Mid-Career Artists (12 months)

  • 2 x Emerging Artists (6 months)
