Sheila Foundation: Helen O’Sullivan Artist Fellowship

Deadline:

Deadline: August 7

The Helen O’Sullivan Artist Fellowship is a new annual $25,000 fellowship presented by the Sheila Foundation to support the development and presentation of ambitious new work by Australian women artists.

Delivered through the Contemporary Art Organisations Australia (CAOA) network, the fellowship provides funding for the creation, exhibition and documentation of a new body of work in partnership with a participating CAOA member organisation.

Open to female-identifying Australian residents at any career stage—including emerging, mid-career and senior artists—the fellowship supports projects presented as either solo or group exhibitions. Funding may be used for artist fees, production and material costs, exhibition presentation and associated public programming.

Named in honour of Her Honour Helen O’Sullivan, a retired Queensland District Court judge and lifelong advocate for women’s rights, the fellowship recognises her enduring commitment to social justice, feminism and community service.

Applications must be submitted through a participating CAOA member organisation, with artists encouraged to contact their relevant organisation directly regarding the nomination process.
