ANAT: Synapse Residency Program 2027

Deadline:

Deadline: October 14

Applications are now open for the 2027 ANAT Synapse Residency Program, supporting Australian artists to undertake a creative research residency in partnership with a leading Australian research organisation.

The program brings together artists and researchers to explore the intersections of art, science and technology through collaborative experimentation. Rather than focusing on a predetermined outcome, the residency encourages the development of new ideas, knowledge and creative processes that benefit both artistic and scientific fields.

One residency will be awarded in 2027, with the successful artist completing a 16-week full-time residency (or part-time equivalent). Artists will receive a fee plus superannuation, with additional project expenses supported where required. Host organisations will also provide in-kind access to specialist staff, facilities, equipment and research resources.

The residency is suited to self-directed artists working across any medium whose practice demonstrates a strong conceptual engagement with science and/or technology.
