Shifting Strands presents a new series of paintings and sculptures by Queensland artist Rachel South, exploring hair as a site of sensation, identity and transformation.
Working across canvas and metal surfaces, South investigates how painting can become a vehicle for transcendence through meditative and sensory processes.
The exhibition explores a series of interconnected dualities, including comfort and discomfort, control and release, and modification and manipulation. Through these contrasting ideas, the works examine how the boundaries between the visual and sensory can dissolve.
The exhibition is free to attend, with no bookings required. All ages welcome.
