Milani Gallery presents Re-start thinking about our nature, an exhibition of new charcoal drawings on canvas by Indonesian artist Aris Prabawa. Spanning galleries 1, 2 and 3, the works explore the intersections of human nature, environmentalism, and geopolitics in the tradition of socio-realist painting.

Based between Yogyakarta and Lismore, Prabawa is a founding member of Taring Padi, the Indonesian artist-run collective known for its powerful fusion of collective activism and art. Since its formation in 1998, Taring Padi has played a vital role in social and political art in the region, and featured prominently in Documenta 15.

The exhibition will be launched with a special ‘In Conversation’ between Aris Prabawa and Richard Bell, commencing at 3pm on Saturday 9 August, followed by opening celebrations from 4 to 6pm. All are welcome.
