The Australian Photographic Prize is a major annual international photography competition, open to photographers at all levels—from students and amateurs to established professionals.

With over 2,500 entries from 21 countries in 2025, the prize continues to grow as a global platform for photographic practice. The 2026 edition expands to 25 categories, offering a wide range of opportunities for artists working across contemporary photography.

A standout feature of the prize is its transparent and educational judging process. All entries undergo initial scoring, with the top 30 in each category progressing to livestream judging, where a panel of over 50 international experts discuss and evaluate works in real time.

The prize also places a strong emphasis on professional development, offering optional written feedback and free critique sessions to support artists in refining their submissions.

Eligibility: Open to Australian and international photographers (Brisbane-based artists are eligible)

Entry Fees:

  • $35 per image or $140 for 5 images
  • Early bird: $30 per image or $120 for 5 images
  • Optional written feedback: $10 per image
