Benjamin Crowley is a contemporary visual artist based in Brisbane, Australia. Crowley’s practice is primarily concerned with questions of existentialism and identity. He engages viewers through moments of ambivalence and uncertainty, often presenting work that is dichotomous or with ambiguous intentions in order to provoke an element of doubt. Through this provocation he aims to incite self-reflection, critical thought and self-awareness. Using qualities of induced scepticism he approaches topics such as identity, masculinity, philosophy and the absurd in contexts of contemporary Art and Australian culture. Outcomes most often take the form of performance, video, installation, text and sculpture.
