Betwixt is a conversation about painting that re-interprets the space between the image and its surface. In an illusory display regional artists Petalia Humphreys, Odessa Mahony-de Vries and June Sartracom bring their practices together in dialogue about the materiality of surface and the physicality of space.
Presenting bold colours, gestural marks and subtle shifting shades this dynamic exhibition celebrates the performativity of making and viewing. In attempt to re-organise and dismantle the familiar, Betwixt re-imagines the painting as an object.
Together these artists generate three dimensional paintings that protrude from walls, leave the wall and refuse flat.
