Recently returned from the US on an investigation into models of social practice and socially engaged art making and projects, artist and curator Alexandra Winters has searched for social practice in our own creative community to exhibit for August’s Box Monthly.
Presenting examples of artists and creatives in Brisbane who create socially engaging and interactive projects that contribute to our community, C O L L E C T I V E C O M M O N S presents ideas and processes rather than just finished art objects. This might be in the form of participatory artworks, ongoing socially involved projects, skill shares or collaborations between different art forms.
This will not be a passive art experience, with moments for interaction and creative participation. The event is a celebration of the greater Brisbane art community, encouraging the blurring of lines between the different scenes and for the community to be invested in the artworks on show.
Featuring projects by : Elisa Jane Carmichael, Sarah Winter, Lucinda Wolber, Daniele Constance + The Forgotten Australian National Network, Second Hand, Indisposable Concept
