IN | artist run initiative presents CELLMATES RESIDENCY, an eight-week development residency focused on exchange, collaboration, and peer-to-peer experimentation. The program connects two contemporary artists based on the potential within their practices to share, challenge, and transform ideas together.
The residency supports artists to exchange research and resources, explore collaborative making, and expand the boundaries of their current practice. Artists work together throughout the residency and present a shared public outcome, which may take the form of an exhibition, artist talk, screening, activation, listening party, or another format agreed upon with IN | ARI directors.
The opportunity is open to contemporary artists working across all art forms. Each participating artist receives a materials stipend of $4,464, professional documentation, a critical writer stipend, a featured artist profile on IN | ARI platforms, and potential income of 70% from any public programs.
Applications close: Midnight, Monday 2 February 2026
Residency period: March – May 2026 (8 weeks)
Residency showing: 9 & 10 May 2026
