Life drawing with collage for The Ascended
Connect with Chantal Fraser’s The Ascended by making your own artwork inspired by the artist’s protective uniforms, masks and shields. In a life drawing style workshop facilitated by Rachel Monique Walker participants will make their own mixed-media collages with inspiration from Fraser’s Citizens’ Armory.
Riot shields, welding masks and gloves worn by a model will be translated into life drawings which are then decorated with collage. Images of jewels, rhinestones, and metal, with gold and silver tape and Posca pens, will enhance the original pencil drawings so they look like they belong in Fraser’s Citizens’ Armory.
About the facilitator: Rachel Monique Walker is an artist and designer living on Jagera and Turrbal country working with paper collage. Her highly blended collage works combine hundreds of images until they reach a pleasing synthesis, almost organic in appearance.
