Combining handmade botanical inks and textiles, artist Dana Lawrie creates a new installation reflecting upon permanence and impermanence.
This textile-based artwork will incorporate both photosensitive and indelible flower and botanical inks that have been handmade by the artist from a range of plants. The process of making and using these natural inks and dyes creates artworks that fade or change and mark or blur the passing of time.
Join Dana for a ‘Plants in Practice’ workshop, where you will learn how she creates her natural dyes and the ways she uses them. Or come to one of her talks where she will discuss her process, the focus of these dyes fading over time and her labour-intensive creations reflecting mortality.
