Sydney’s Das Superpaper has been described as ‘the printed lookbook of emerging and contemporary art’. Guest edited by Drew Pettifer, the latest issue (‘The Body Politic’) explores how artists engage with questions of gender, sexuality, and race. Key questions include: How can art function as cultural critique? How can art effect change in relation to sexism, homophobia, and racism? How can art function as activism? And, what is the relevance of these questions in the contemporary Australian context? Nick Garner, Robyn Stuart, and Drew Pettifer launch the issue and lead a discussion on the place of ‘free criticism’.
