Griffith Centre for Creative Arts Research will host the inaugural Drawing International Brisbane Symposium, to be held at the Queensland College of Art (QCA) at South Bank, Brisbane from 30 September – 2 October. The Symposium will promote an active dialogue between curators, artists and academics on the role and significance of contemporary drawing practice.
Prominent international and national drawing scholars Deanna Petherbridge, Barbara Bolt, Ian Howard and Chris McAuliffe as well as curator Hannah Matthews will present at the Symposium. Exhibitions will run concurrently at QCA Galleries and local art spaces to complement the event, including a program of performance and drawing in the Brisbane CBD in partnership with Brisbane City Council as part of the Vibrant Laneways program.
