Emma Theyers new collection Age of Humans comments on the relationship between humanity and nature.These meticulously detailed charcoal drawings explore both the fragility and resilience of nature, along with man’s continuing intervention. Emma’s artworks investigate the detrimental effects of human consumerism and its ability to shape and alter life’s existence. This representation of manipulation and oblivious disconnection to nature is juxtaposed by elements of regrowth, symbolising survival hope and renewal. Emma graduated from the Queensland College of art in 2001 and has since gone on to be short-listed in art prizes such as the Paul Guest Drawing Prize and Clayton Utz Art Award.
