WHEN : 18th April, 6:00 – 8:00pm
WHERE : Metro Arts
The exhibition Essence depicts the artist Louise Sparre’s reflections and moods in process as a newcomer integrating into the Australian society, dealing with the curiosity, strangeness, sacrifice and loneliness.
Many of Sparre’s artworks deal with the dualistic from the upheaval associated with a habitat shift. The work is philosophizing about the situation where you, as a foreign individual, suddenly do not have a history, and can create a new identity if you wish.
Sparre’s works are poetic and sensitive. They create moods, and are often quite tangible, in the sense that the material constitutes a large part of the artwork while it speaks to our different senses and associations.
Essence is an investigative experiment in form and a personal portrayal of something as universal as migration.
Louise Sparre was born and raised in Denmark. She has a Master of Visual Arts from Funen Art Academy, Denmark in 2003. She has so far mainly exhibited in Denmark and Europe.
Exhibition Dates : Wednesday 18 April to Saturday 28 April, 2012
