WHEN : 24th – 31st August
WHERE : Fireworks Gallery
Firebrand III at FireWorks Gallery focuses on Queensland painter David Paulson and will showcase his new series Maleny Creek 2013. David has been painting from Maleny since 2003 and this show represents his 5th solo exhibition where his précised scenes of creek beds, along with the dramatic light and dark of the rainforest, is a constant source of visual energy for the artist: I don’t see the creek as a landscape. I see it almost as a kaleidoscopic understanding of the planet, the universe, its layering, its complexities, its brilliance, its minutiae.
David is also a well-known and highly respected teacher of fine art including painting and life drawing. Over his 40 year plus career as artist and teacher he has built up a strong legion of fans and admirers as witnessed by the throngs attending his recent major survey exhibition at Noosa Regional Gallery last year.
This new exhibition Maleny Creek 2013 features 10 oil paintings ranging from a modest sized 51x51cm up to larger works of 120x 240cm. The exhibition begins with an artists’ talk at the gallery on Wednesday July 24 at 5.00pm followed by opening drinks from 6-8pm. Exhibition runs until August 31.
