Fragments II: Belgrade is a series of artworks that depict vignettes of the architectural cityscapes of Belgrade, one of the oldest European cities. Remembered images of the city are overlaid with a map that describes Belgrade’s imprint on Klačar-Nedimović. They represent artist’s historical presence and her reconnections, but also note the reality of her disconnection with this place.
“The series of artworks, titled Fragments II: Belgrade, show an architectural façade, overlaid with a map that describes the way the city is threaded into memory, exploring Klačar-Nedimović’s personal, familial and cultural ties to the city of her youth. In Klačar-Nedimović images we may all access the familiar sense of retracing the past in our present” (Louise Martin-Chew, “Vesna Klačar-Nedimović: fragments of memory”, Imprint, vol.48 no.3 p.19, 2013).
