Deadline:

Institute of Modern Art

Join us at the IMA after sundown Tuesday 24 October for Naomi Blacklock’s first Brisbane performance of Parallel Presence (2016). Grounded in the history of the witch archetype, Blacklock developed this performance in order to explore the agency of the female scream.

Blacklock’s work examines mythologies raising harmful histories of gender and cultural identity. She is a current PhD candidate at Queensland University of Technology.

Join us for the performance Tuesday 24 October at 7 PM, and view the residual materials in the screening room from 25–28 October.

Jeremy Hynes Award:

Since 2009, the IMA has had the honour of presenting the award to an experimental Queensland artist in the earlier stages of their career, made possible by a bequest made by the family of Jeremy Hynes in his name. The 2017 shortlist artists Lucy Forsberg, Michael Candy, Elizabeth Willing, and Naomi Blacklock will be presenting projects and events throughout October. The recipient of this years’ award is to be announced at IMA’s Annual Party on Saturday, 28 October.
