The works in this exhibition represent two facets of my painting practice. The still lifes are composed on tables and surfaces in my home using objects that are part of my everyday life. During the painting process these objects are changed and rearranged on canvas many times as I strive to find a kind of simplicity within the chaos.
On the other hand there are the large interiors. Created from an assortment of images found online and in magazines, spliced together to create an imaginary space. These paintings take a long time to resolve as I add and subtract elements, looking for a space that feels like something both other-worldly yet at the same time familiar. John Bokor March 2022
