Inaugurated in 2000, the Prize is named after John Leslie OBE (1919—2016), Patron of the Gippsland Art Gallery. The continuation of the Prize is made possible by the generous ongoing support of the John Leslie Foundation, and 2022 marks its 12th iteration.
Prizes include the John Leslie $20,000 Acquisitive Prize as well as a $1,000 non-acquisitive prize for the ‘Best Gippsland Work’.
