True to the Nordic love of nature, Katarina Vesterberg’s paintings explore the natural world and the meaning of existence within it, capturing elements of the immense and sometimes unforgiving, yet beautiful, environment of her Scandinavian birth home and her current home, Australia.

Vesterberg studies the effects of sea and sky in every kind of weather. Instead of merely recording factually what she sees, Katarina translates the vista into a light-orientated expression. She has a direct and painterly approach to landscape using both grand and fine gestures, inviting the viewer to explore her work more deeply. The soft edges in her works suggest the ever-transitory nature of the harsh and unrelenting and yet inspirational environment in which she works and lives.

She is represented nationally and internationally by private and corporate collections, including Queensland Art Gallery, Artbank, Sydney and Parliament House, Canberra. Text Extract
