Retail therapy is the sensation of possessions affecting consumer self-consciousness. My themes deal with consumer culture through representation of iconic consumer brand goods. Brands don’t only exist on a shirt or a computer screen, brands are ideas that can evoke emotions. My practice reduces the brand to a ghost of its former self portraying a basic blueprint for consumer sensation by covering up the things we buy, to hide what we don’t have or who we are not. Through minimisation of colour and form I attempt to discover if the things we buy give us therapy or if the therapy is just the filling of a void?
