Marisa Purcell holds a Master of Visual Arts from the Sydney College of Art, University of Sydney and a Master of Art Administration from University of New South Wales, College of Fine Art. She has received numerous prizes, awards and residencies including the University of Sydney Post-Graduate Award in 2006, the Waverley Acrylic Art Prize in 2015 and was a Blake Prize finalist in 2014. In 2004 she undertook an artist residency at the Cite Internationale des Arts in Paris and in 2012 a residency at La Macina di San Cresci in Chianti, Italy.
