Here One Day presents new and pivotal works spanning Maureen Hansen’s career from 1994 (Dornoch Terrace Verandah) through to 2025 (Brisbane’s Blooming Backyard). With over 28 solo exhibitions and 37 group shows, Hansen has gathered paintings preserved for safekeeping—works that chart her growth as a painter and the city she calls home.
This exhibition includes never-before-shown works of the Eleanor Schonell Bridge, painted over two years in afternoon light, as well as still life studies inspired by Manet’s late flower paintings. Hansen’s practice is rooted in observation and intimacy—whether recording the boom and bust of Australian flora, the colours of Byron Bay and Tweed rivers, or portraits of trees connecting back to her residency at Hill End.
Here One Day is both a diary of lived experience and a reflection on Brisbane’s changing landscape, celebrating the beauty of light, colour, and the fleeting moments of daily life.
