The annual MELT Portrait Prize gives visual artists the creative license to celebrate heroes in the LGBTIQ+ community; whether it be a local icon or an internationally acclaimed personality.

We are delighted to announce that the 2019 recipient of the Judge’s Choice Award is:
Dan Molloy for Silenced in the Shadows.

The judges nominated three works for Highly Commended recognition:
Seamus Platt for Brigid in Thornbury Blue
Annette Somers for The Worker
Michael Simms for Live Streaming.

Having developed a reputation for attracting exceptional works of art from across Australia, this highly anticipated portrait prize offers a Judge’s Choice and People’s Choice Prize.

The result, a stunning exhibition of shortlisted works exhibited throughout Brisbane Powerhouse, has previously featured a variety of mediums from painting to photography, drawing and digital illustration.

You can view the exhibition and vote for the People’s Choice, in venue. This award will be announced at the end of MELT.
