Jan Manton Art is pleased to announce upcoming exhibition A suitable distance by emerging Brisbane artist Michelle Gilbert.

“There are times when standing in the right place, at the right time, a subtle shift occurs causing a normally ordinary view to instead feel slightly strange or elusive.”

A suitable distance is the first solo exhibition for Michelle Gilbertsince graduating from QAC in 2015. The paintings from this exhibition explore how the landscape can captivate the viewer in often subtle and unexpected ways.  As a frequent traveller to Japan the artist is drawn to the differences in surroundings and how the eye continually searches for familiarity in the landscape.
