For MONO 46 we delve into a triple bill of extended instrumental mastery.

On their latest record World In WorldJulia Reidy (DE/AU) crafts a work that is utterly unique, existing between the traditions of extended song form, just intonation composition, and exploratory guitar work. Merging hovering clouds of voice amidst clusters of open harmonic guitar flutters, their work is entirely its own universe.

New York-based guitarist and occasional shortwave experimentalist Alan Licht (US) is well known for his work as a provocative improvisor, his work with Lee Ranaldo (Sonic Youth) and Text of Light, and as part of a wealth of legendary East Coast acts.

Joining them is composer and saxophonist Ulrich Krieger (US/DE). Having performed along side Lou Reed in the Metal Machine Trio, Krieger’s work expands the capacity of his chosen instruments. Often conceptually driven, his performances are equally parts a matter of physicality, gesture, and timbre.
