Deadline:

WHEN : 11th – 28th September
WHERE : Metro Arts

Artist – Chris Howlett (AUS)

New Dawn is an exhibition of sculptural works that have been in development since 2010, combining 3D printing technology with traditional studio based sculptural practices, activating an immersive space from which to critically and creatively consider how reality and simulated environments both construct and reconfigure our ideas about the nature of identity.

Taking the virtual gaming space into the physical gallery space, Chris puts the audiences in a dissensual space; online avatars, forum posts, middle-eastern revolutionary displays of protest, celebrity-obsessed Australian culture, faith, sexuality and consumerism all overlap and further indulge the senses in this accelerated display of reality.

This exhibition of new work at Metro Arts follows the first instalment of New Dawn, a multi-channel machinima work, at Boxcopy in August.
