A celebration of fascinating and rarely seen independent filmmaking from the South Pacific territory of New Caledonia. Continuing the Australian Cinémathèque’s ongoing exploration of regional filmmaking communities – as seen in programs such as ‘APT9 Cinema: Microwave Films of the Marshall Islands’ and ‘APT10 Cinema: Under the Radar’ – these short films showcase a selection of the exciting creative voices emerging from New Caledonia.
Screening on New Caledonia’s ‘Citizenship Day’ – which celebrates the territory’s unique identity, diverse cultures and peoples – the films are presented in a mix of French and Kanak indigenous languages, with English subtitles.
