Noorderlicht invites image-makers, photographers, and artists working with all forms of lens-based media to participate in the 2025 Biennale: Machine Entanglements. The festival explores the relationship between technology, ecology, and heritage. Do you have work that critically reflects on these themes and examines the impact of technology such as AI on our society and environment?
Submit your entry for one of these themes:
1. Connected Landscapes: How does technology change our interaction with natural and urban landscapes? How do technological innovations influence our relationship with nature?
2. Heritage Futures: Explore the influence of (colonial) heritage in a contemporary context. How can digital technologies help us understand our past and contribute to a more just future?
The selected works will be presented in the summer of 2025 at various locations in Friesland, Groningen, and Drenthe.
