Over the past four months, Aishla Manning, Jess Enkera, Monica Rohan, Kat Campbell, Kate McKay, Peter Kozak and Rhiannon Dionysius have been diligently working away above the gallery while walls were being erected below.
With us these artists have hosted public programs, collaborated with In Residence, enjoyed frequent studio critiques, mourned the loss of Princess Diana, questioned the virtue of 9 – 5 jobs, spilled our guts about people we love, considered how a chair is a person and what it means to fall off one, gone down spooky alley ways, thought about how clay might move and revelled in all that is tender and vulnerable and good in the world. Together, with these artists we have laughed A LOT, cried a little, drunk copious amounts of tea, smaller amounts of beer and wine and shared allergen friendly afternoon snacks.
Outer Space will be sad to see them vacate the premises but is excited to join forces with our next cohort of fearless artists as we move towards spring. And even though our studio pals may be leaving for now many will be returning in the coming months to deliver public programs that they worked on during their residency.
