Since 1975, printmaking has been central to Griffith University’s cultural and creative impact. Originating through the Queensland Film and Drama Centre (QFDC), the university fostered a nationally significant artist residency program and supported the creation of political posters and community-driven workshops. This history includes early contributions from major artists such as Arthur Boyd, Cressida Campbell, Lawrence Daws, Brian Seidel, and Judy Watson.
Established in 1984, the QCAD Print Folio Box has become an annual tradition and a rich archive of student, staff, and guest artist work. The archive captures the evolving narratives of contemporary Australian printmaking and continues to grow, most recently with the 2024 folio developed in collaboration with Cobalt Editions and inaugural artist-in-residence Pat Hoffie.
