The QCP is warmly inviting you to our upcoming free presentation about Diane Arbus, presented by Dr Stephen Hobson, this coming Thursday 8th September 5.30pm.
The American photographer Diane Arbus died in 1972 at the age of 48. Her death, by suicide, was followed by unprecedented world fame. In 2011 two new books will be published on Arbus and a major exhibition will open at the Jeu de Paume in Paris. She has also been the subject of a Hollywood movie starring Nicole Kidman. The allure of Arbus’ work for audiences is therefore as strong today as it was when she died.
Dr. Stephen Hobson examines the way Arbus’ photography was packaged after her death in the publication of the famous Aperture monograph.
