Perceptions/Deceptions

Deadline:

1 August
-
August 12
POP Gallery

An exhibition that brings together a group of emerging artists, all students or recent graduates of the Queensland College of Art , aiming to emphasise the role of the viewer and the ambiguous interpretations derived from their personal experiences. Exploring the relationship between reality, the perspective of the artist and the power of art to communicate and relate to its perceivers. The exhibition harnesses the introspective nature of reflection and provides a platform for self-discovery, fostering connections beyond individual experiences.

The deceptive ability of art also comes in to play, questioning the reliability of our impressionable recollections and forcing us to consider our understanding of the world as intrinsically malleable.

Perceptions/Deceptions celebrates the complexity of individuality, embracing diverse perspectives while encouraging acceptance. Through the skilled use of mirrors, sensitive mark making, intricate layering and expressive gestures, the artworks offer an emotional and immersive experience that conveys the reciprocal relationship between our impact on the world and its influence on us.
