This is the second iteration of our annual Queensland new-artists project. It presents three artists. Shannon Toth’s assemblages combine timber, confectionary, and sound in sticky performances that evoke the body. Jarrod van der Ryken is known for his moody video installations, evoking spaces of illicit sexual encounter and discovery, dens and beats. Keemon Williams queers Australianness and Indigeneity through comic mischief.

Jarrod van der Ryken (b.1990) has shown at Carpark, Wreckers, Outer Space, Boxcopy, and Metro Arts in Meanjin/Brisbane, at Firstdraft and Pompom in Gadigal/Sydney, and at Screenspace in Naarm/Melbourne. He is based in Meanjin/Brisbane.

Keemon Williams (b.1999; Koa, Kuku Yalanji, and Meriam Mir) has had solo shows at Kuiper Projects in Meanjin/Brisbane in 2021 and North Site in Gimuy/Cairns in 2023. He is based in Meanjin/Brisbane.

Shannon Toth (b.1992) has shown at Firstdraft in Naarm/Melbourne in 2023 and at Wreckers in Meanjin/Brisbane in 2024. They are based in Naarm/Melbourne.
