‘Quilty’ Conversations: A World Without The Death Penalty
6.30–7.30pm, Tue 23 Jul
Cinema A, GOMA | Ticketed $19 | QAGOMA Members $16

Ben Quilty is known for advocating for change through his socially-engaged art practice. In 2015, Ben was profoundly affected by the execution of his friend and fellow artist Myuran Sukumaran.

How can we advocate for a world against the death penalty? Ed Ayres (ABC RN) is joined in conversation by Julian McMahon, to discuss his work representing those facing the death penalty and his mission to bring state sponsored killings to an end.

Julian McMahon AC SC is a Melbourne-based barrister, President of the Capital Punishment Justice Project (formerly known as Reprieve Australia) and a human rights advocate. For more than 16 years Julian has worked for prisoners facing the death penalty, including representing members of the accused Bali Nine – Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumaran.

Why not make a night of it? The ‘Quilty’ exhibition will be open from 5.30–6.30pm, with special after-hours access for ticket holders.
