Deadline: 22 February

The Rabbit Island Residency Program 2026 is now accepting applications for three residencies taking place on Rabbit Island, Michigan (USA). The residency supports artists working in dialogue with contemporary environmental issues, ecology, conservation, and sustainability.

Artists undertake a 2–4 week residency on the island, engaging directly with a remote wilderness environment. The program prioritises context-responsive practices rather than applications seeking general studio time. Selected artists are supported with financial assistance, accommodation, and opportunities for documentation and future exhibition connections.

Residency support includes:
• USD $4,000 unrestricted honorarium
• 3-week residency on Rabbit Island
• Inclusion in the annual Rabbit Island publication and online archive
• Connections to partner institutions for exhibition and performance opportunities
• Mainland housing in Michigan’s Keweenaw Peninsula (as required)

Applicants must submit an artist statement, a project proposal demonstrating engagement with environmental context, and up to five work samples. Full application guidelines and FAQs are available online.
