Reflective Motives: Two Days with the Climate Aware Creative Practices Network and UQ Art Museum

Deadline:

UQ Art Museum

UQ Art Museum and the Climate Aware Creative Practices Network (CACP) present Reflective Motives, a two-day gathering exploring climate-responsive contemporary art through workshops, conversations, shared meals and collaborative publishing.

Bringing together artists, researchers, educators and curators, the program investigates creative approaches to ecological thinking and relational practice. Inspired by Dr Aunty Mary Graham’s concept of the “reflective motive”, the event encourages participants to consider how contemporary art can respond to environmental and social challenges through collective learning and exchange.

The program features artist-led workshops facilitated by Dominique Chen, Caitlin Franzmann, Libby Harward, Bianca Hester, Eugenia Lim, Bronwyn Bailey-Charteris, Lleah Smith and additional collaborators to be announced. A keynote conversation between Dr Aunty Mary Graham and Tristen Harwood will accompany workshops, screenings, walks and shared meals.

Throughout the event, Marilena Hewitt will produce a live publication documenting discussions, workshop notes and collaborative reflections, culminating in a printed reader distributed to participants at the conclusion of the gathering.

Attendees are also invited to participate in the Community Picnic Blanket Exchange, creating a handmade picnic blanket to bring, use and exchange during the event.

Further program details, including session registrations, will be released in September.
